I found polar bear windows to be professional from start to finish.
The work was carried out to the time frame that was indicated from first agreeing to the quote to the finished product, with regular communication about each stage of the installation.

1. The measuring up was wrong on one window. The sill underneath had to be raised to fit the window. I found out about this from my contractor after fitting - the additional work was at my cost.
2. Polar Bear forgot to add a cost for knocking out the existing door. On the day of fitting I had to pay for the additional work to be done before they could fit the new door.
3. They fitted opaque glass on the bottom panes of two sash windows. I had asked for them all to be clear glass. Polar Bear admitted no liability because the contract mentioned satin glass - I had not idea this meant opaque glass. I had to pay for another company to replace the two panes at my cost.
Polar Bear admitted no responsibility for any of the above. I would definitely not recommend.
Communication is key to a smooth installation. We met your builder on site where we were told he would be sorting out the knock-through, hence why your quote didnt have the knock-through it included. We apologies for the human error of putting opaque glass on your quote which was then ordered. We do emphasise to every customer to go through there quote carefully. We appreciate your feedback and will look into how we can make our quote more clear to help reduce any mis-understanding. It will be no suprise that after taking 1 year to the day to fit 2 doors, and more than 9 retrun visits to correct issues, we would not recommend this contractor to anyone, ever. While their fitters are polite and fairly tidy, they are let down by a back of house team who cannot organise delivery of parts in a timely manner. We had 3 doors fitted. 1 was damaged prior to delivery, and was installed regardless, and repaired 4 months later. 1 was delivered with the incorrect glass, which was later replaced. This experience was with the installation of 3 simple doors. Thank goodness we didn't opt to have all of the windows in the property changed at the same time.
We sincerely apologise that repeat visit to address issues, we understand that can be frustrating for you and appreciate your patience.
We pride ourselves on getting installation complete to a high standard and on rare occasions it takes longer to resolve issues that sometimes arise.

Jim's work and the local office were excellent. Administration in Bristol was muddled and confusing. For example, money was demanded referring to completion of task, before the task was completed.

The work carried out was done to a professional standard. Because of a small part of the installation was not available at the time of the installation the job was not completed at the initial fit. Subsequent dates to complete the fit were missed with one giving no notice that the fitter would not be arriving. Firms need to contact customers that the planned visit is not to be made for whatever reason, so that the customer can make other arrangements rather than wait around for someone who is not going to turn up. Lesson to be learnt, better communication with customer.

We had issues with the wrong door being manufactured due to an admin error at Polar which caused unhelpful delays to the building project. There were also some minor issues with service and communication, but all was put right in the end and I am very happy with the products and the final outcome. The price was also competitive .

It took many visits to get everything right, as they didn't have the correct size trickle vents on install, or on the subsequent two visits. They installed the wrong type of sills and had to come back to refit everything, over two separate visits. My tilt and turn window wouldn't close at all after I opened it to test the install, and it took them a week to come and fix it, even though my house was completely insecure with a ground floor window that wouldn't close during this time (and it was cold!). The contractors consistently turned up outside the time windows given. The install was delayed as one of the workers was sick, but they didn't call me and tell me that they weren't coming until 9.15am when the install was booked from 8am.

Wasn't told that the frames were thicker on the new frames had to get them back to remove patio doors and refit 20 mm into the house at an additional cost of £200 surveyor nor anyone else told me that the frame was a different thickness
When they measured up.
Your new doors was fitted into the space of your existing door opening, this is standard process across the industry.
After installation you expressed you wanted your new door to sit right up to the reveals this mean cutting away at your wall and getting the door refit which you agreed you wanted. As this wasn't apart of the original order there was a cost incurred. If there is anything else we can help with – please get in touch.
Athough I am very pleased with the door installed by the contractor, there were considerable time delays and initial lack of communication concerning installation. Then the wrong colour door was delivered, resulting in another long delay until final installation. When the 'correct' colour was finally delivered, there was considerable discrepancy between colour shown in brochure and actual colour of door. However, I am very pleased with the quality and security of the door.

We do mention in the brochure that colours are for illustrative purposes. We have actual colour samples at our showroom. Actual colour and printed colours can differ depending on light source.

From our first visit to the showroom to the installation the service we received was excellent. All the people we met were very pleasant, friendly, helpful and polite. The windows look and are good. The window into the brick wall was finished well and complete.
The window in the spar finish needed to be repaired, this took time to complete and the look and finish could be improved.

Multiple issues experienced due to there not being a trickle vent installed in the door from the start according with regulations, then with an attempt to remedy this by Polar Bear by drilling holes into the sash which looked entirely unprofessional. However customer service was always responsive and after multiple visits this was rectified. Currently waiting for a response regarding missing hinge caps on the door and another they have installed earlier this year.
Thank you for leaving feedback. Drilling holes in windows for trickle vents is common practice in the industry. To remove windows and transport them back to the manufacturing facility increases the chance of damage in transport.
