The quality of the work is excellent and the installation team first rate. The only drawback we faced was communication between the company and the leaded glass provider, which delayed the installation.
The workmanship is outstanding as was the fitting. There are still a couple of problems that need ironing out but I am waiting on those.
The window fitters were polite and courteous.
The craftsmen fitting the windows were very friendly, efficient and punctual. I was very impressed with the quality of the final work and attention to detail. The finished product given it was all the windows are much commented on by my neighbours some have asked for recommendation which I was happy to give. Good job well done
Their windows are great quality but it was a shame that the installation process /service was not what I had expected or what I had read others had experienced. The builders had to attend the property on 5 different occasions with different builders each time - there was no consistency between the work or approach. I also had to wait weeks in between each visit.
I would recommend the final builder who visited the property however and only wished he had been on the project from the beginning.
The job just was not as smooth as it should have been given the money spent. The product is excellent however getting to a stage where we were totally happy as a customer took way longer than expected.
The company (WSW) are good however since we last used them in 2018 seem to have grown in size and as such the systems have not yet caught up. I have no doubt that things will improve and we were unlucky. I am all in favour of family businesses growing and thriving and WSW seem no exception.
They had a very good employee, Steve, who was dealing with the after sales element however he is no longer with the company.
I would have liked to have recommended the contractor because the original installed windows looked wonderful but there have been many issues and although I would rate the contractor 10+ for trying to resolve them, the current situation is still not satisfactory. I am hopeful though, that all will be resolved.
Specification fine. Windows well-made. Fitting a chaotic nightmare.
A brilliant job!
I had overall issues with my job.
The initial planning side of the job went well. The contractors surveyor attended site with myself as Contract Administrator and undertook two measures for the windows. Several windows did not fit the openings and had to be re-made or the openings adjusted. This is a Grade II Listed building, and so we went to a contractor we thought would be versed in manufacturing and installing bespoke timber sash windows in such buildings. Externally messy white silicon joints were applied which had to be undone by the contractor. The contractors attendance was inconsistent, with multiple delays. Significant mess was made within occupied flats resulting in multiple complaints. The installed windows are of a good quality, but the fitment process and customer service was very disappointing.
I initially made the enquiry with Parsons Joinery, and only became aware of Wandsworth Sash Windows when being asked to make a payment. The structure of the companies was not explained to me and it was confusing when a completely different company did the work.
Communication was very good at the beginning, but during the work I asked for a quote to repair a window that was in worse condition than expected and never received a response.
I was also never asked to fill out anything to sign off that it was completed and I was happy with the work. There were a few snagging issues that were eventually dealt with but I would often wait 3-4 days to receive a reply to emails and had to chase repeatedly.
Whilst I am happy with the work, I think the customer service unfortunately let it down
Production delays resulted in the installation being postponed for about 6 weeks. Communication between contractor and customer regarding this matter was good. The contractor installed a quality product, but the making good and finishing of the installation was not of such high standard. A door was delivered that did not fit exactly, requiring significant on-site joinery alterations which extended the installation time by two days. Overall, the fitters were polite, industrious and capable.
- Customer service was great until they received final payment in the week prior to installation and then customer service just collapsed.
- The UPVC windows have all had issues, partly quality off production line but the level of finish on installation was very poor.
- Inconsistent hardware installed across the UPVC windows.
- Dreadful after care service.
- Installation was initially "completed" in JUL21, but issues not resolved until APR22 and only to a "reasonable", not perfect standard.
- The company forgot to register for the CERTASS certificate and only did so following a request from me for a copy of the Certificate in JUN23, 2 years after original installation.
- Video inside property taken and used on social media without consent and of a product they were not associated with.
Hello, thank you for your comments. We are unsure what order this relates to as we do not install UPVC products and have never done so as a company. We believe this review may be posted in error and is actually for another company.
Excellent customer service
The installation itself was problematic needing a lot of return visits, but customer service was great and all was ultimately resolved to a good standard. I've only put 'no' in terms of a recommendation because I wouldnt want anyone to go through the stress this caused on the basis of my recommendation, I would work with WSW again myself.
I had a very bad experience with WSW although towards the end they sorted it out. Service problems, understanding, very bad workers, damage to my property (although denied by the workers), awful finishing, very slow timeframes etc etc. An ordeal over the course of 18 months for a handful of windows and some double doors. To their credit they did eventually resolve the problems and were let down by some awful staff. Would they be better next time probably but I couldn't take the risk again.
The joinery was excellent. The measuring service was made inexact by access issues caused by a heavy uVPC frame around some windows being replaced. When the finished bay window sashes were installed, these new windows interfered somewhat with the original ceiling cornice. With hindsight, we could have asked for the uVPC to be removed where it ran close to the ceiling cornicing and also perhaps tried to negotiate with neighbours who still retained the original sashes (to improve accurate measurements) for our measuring team to take a look. Having said that, the lead time for these windows was over 20 weeks, so not sure if removal of uVPC would have caused other issues (eg if it exposed the interior room to the outside weather).
Entered dispute . Now resolved
Unfortunately not as our windows were not measured properly and this delayed everything. We were also asked to pay everything upfront which seems odd (legal?). Customer service constantly had to be reminded of everything rather than them getting to us for updates.
The installation team was excellent.
Amazing service - they stored our windows until we were ready for installation and then the installers went above and beyond and we're so lovely and helpful!
The workmanship standards look good to me but I do not have the knowledge or expertise to. comment. I have given top score because i do nnot seeanything wrong with the standard as a layman
Outstanding service and brilliant carpentry and craftsmanship
I thought very hard about whether I would recommend the contractor and although the customer service was bad the actual windows were good quality. The team of installers were also hard working, polite, tidy and very helpful.
WSW did an excellent job of the joinery & the installation. The house's curb appeal has soared! There were a number of snags & these are being dealt with
We found them to be clear and reliable throughout. When I raised a minor issue with the works, the problem was immediately put right.
The sales team and the installers were all courteous. Speedy response to emails. Professional workmanship. Happy with the result.
Installation appeared to be under some time pressure. As a result, the initial work was messy. I was glad a return visit made good and finished the work but I didn't appreciate having to remove sawdust from my tenant's bed.
No complaints about the works or the very considerate fitters though.
Great job, windows have made a huge difference to the flat - much cosier, far less noise, noticeable lack of draughts. Couldn’t be happier, thanks so much!
Overall good experience, but slow to complete paperwork following installation.
Koyne was great
The reason customer service was marked down was that they did not keep us (the property managers) informed and we had to remind them about the guarantees etc. The tenants, though, were kept informed as they were at the property whilst the works were being carried out.
Highly professional and helpful in all aspects of the process. Would thoroughly recommend Wandsworth Sash Windows
Friendly and efficient from start to end of process. It started as an enquiry and ended up as a substantial project. Good workmanship on all facets of the job.
very professional and friendly, kept us informed all the way through the process
As discussed with the contractor, we're happy with the end product as the windows are great. However, the process that followed our initial order (from manufacture to installation) has been very stressful. The contractor didn't send a surveyor in the first place and it turned out all measurements were wrong. 10-12 weeks into the job, we had to start from scratch. And manufacture kept being delayed. In the end, it took six months to see this project through and in the meantime the contractor not only showed extremely poor communication but also poor management of the whole project (six months into the job, even the ironmongery came wrong).
All concerned were extremely polite and the fitters were punctual, worked hard and seemed to know what they were doing. We have an extremely old house but the plaster stood up well to their fitting and just a few little bits were made good before they left.
Poor customer service.
Very long delay ( 4 months) between approving the drawings and installation, limited communication during this time.
Some remedial work required on the inside but no response when contacted.
The installation of the window was totally unsatisfactory, there was no pride in the installers workmanship. WSW reviewed the installation and agreed to remedy the mistakes with the same installer. Unfortunately this visit did not correct any of the agreed mistakes and WSW then had to arrange for a further visit by competent installers. The window now looks good and we are satisfied, but I would not use WSW again.
Was kept well informed of progress of order from initial visit to completion. Every stage taken care of, including applying for Building / Planning permissions, with minimum input from myself.
All contacts, whether by phone or personal, done in a friendly manner. The 2 installers were efficient, tidy and friendly and works completed to quoted timetable.
No, I have made them directly already.
The products were very good quality, but manufacturing was much slower than advised and there was little communication regarding dates. Quality of finishing to installation was poor in places. Overall, communication with the office was inconsistent.
I have been very disappointed with the service of this company. I paid by deposit in January for new sash windows and a new front door. By June, I had to make the contract time of the essence as I was worried the work wasn't going to be completed. The work was then sub-standard. One sash window in my kitchen wasn't measured correctly and had to be remade with took another 4 weeks. The front door was my biggest issue as it was fitted without a letterbox, keyhole, or even a lock. All of these had to be drilled on side and the workmanship was appalling. The main issue was that the door was an inch too small for the door so there was a big hole at the bottom. The workmen had to come 4 times to finish off the job to the standard I was happy with. I am still having issues with the sash window!
I had some issues with the quality of work of the fitters. The window manufacture was great, but when fitted, the windows suffered a lot of scuffs and were not touched up at all until I complained. Even when touched up, the job was shoddy and the finished product is not as polished as I would like.
Workmanship standards were great, but there was a slight discrepancy between the size of the outgoing frames and the new ones installed - leaving a slight gap - which was a bit surprising, given that these were made to measure windows.
Excellent work.
