I believe they did the best they could with what was there. It is a shame that whoever did the loft conversion all those years ago and fitted windows for the first time didn’t get the correct measurements or something, as we have been left with gaps that needed to be filled with caulking, so it doesn’t look its best. The guy was completely open and honest about that though. Only final point was that they could have wiped up the finger smudges etc that were left around the frame and wall nearby, but it was nothing that a damp cloth couldn’t resolve.

In terms of customer service I was told that ridge tiles would have to be removed / replaced and that would cost £250. I accepted that. On the day, the ridge tiles were never touched – I asked specifically for confirmation and got it. Nevertheless, I was then asked to pay the full installation fee as quoted including the £250 surcharge. I appealed. The £250 was removed from the invoice and I paid. As regards tidiness, the installation team worked very hard to install two Velux roof windows on our third floor, and remove the two extant windows.
In the process there was some mess which might have been reduced or avoided but we didn’t mind that much, we were happy to have two new windows and no rainwater leaks.

The 2 young men were polite and respectful of our property. They knew what they were doing and involved us in questions regarding the finishing. We were very impressed by the installation.

Shane was friendly and helpful. The replacement velux was installed more quickly than I thought it would be and we’re really pleased with the finished product.

As discussed on the telephone the contractor did an excellent job. However the first date 4/7/25 we waited until I believe mid afternoon to be told there had been a problem on the first job that day and they would have to reschedule. The second date the following week, (it was very hot) they were very delayed and eventually arrived at 5pm. They did communicate this to us. The job was done they were both very polite but we were a bit peeved at all the hanging about. As it happened it suited us to do the evening visit but that may not have been the case and then it would have meant a further rescheduling. However we are delighted with the work.

All in all, a very positive experience, from initial enquiry right through to installation and follow-up.

Alan Dawson, Contractor for Velux was brilliant.
Even at a busy time, with the Great Yorkshire Show affecting all roads into and out of Harrogate, he was still able to arrive on time for our Velux fitting.
A tidy worker, he was thoughtful about where he put the original Velux and associated debris, so we were able to move around our home without spreading rubbish and dirt around, or worrying about our personal safety. The fitting was completed within the day and Alan cleaned everything before leaving.
His professional and friendly demeanour contributed to my partner and I feeling comfortable with him being in our home and confident that the Velux was being fitted by an expert.

The installers took great care to make as little mess as possible and there were no issues for us to deal with, only replacing furnishings etc. We had no re-decoration to do as a result of the work. The work was carried out within the expected timing. The return visit was only needed because of the component damaged by the carrier, and the installers were equally efficient on that occasion.

The installers Steve and Mark were fantastic and very professional.

The installers were very helpful and conscientious – they did an excellent job and ensured everything was complete. A blind was missing and they went out of their way to get one for us and installed it in their own time. Excellent service.

Our Velux installer was a chap named Andrew Spencer and he couldn’t have been more helpful. Full marks all round for a great 2 day, 5 window installation.

Andrew and his team were dedicated to their work and stuck to agreed time frames to complete the job.

The contractor arrived on time and was very polite and courteous throughout the work. They clearly knew what they were doing and worked very quickly and efficiently. I was pleasantly surprised at how little mess there was as they managed to remove the old window frame with very hardly any damage to the plaster in the window recess. The new window and external fittings were secured and the old window / fittings and packaging taken away with no damage to the walls on the hall / stairs – no mean feat given the size of the window and the 2nd floor location. We have not had any issues since and everything looks fine. I’d definitely look to use the same fitter again if the need arises.

The contractor (Rosbo Roofing) was excellent and the product is excellent. The Velux company let themselves down by incompetent processing of emails (not reading/actioning them properly) and supplying the installer with the wrong items leading to a three week delay awaiting the correct materials to arrive.

Contractor worked hard and to a good standard keeping us informed as they progressed. I have already fed back to Velux the slight issue (hence the 8 above), I had with the long gap between being charged for the hardware and actually making contact with the contractor; over 7 weeks; money gone with nothing to show, but this is not necessarily a contractor problem.

The actual installers have more knowledge about the products than Velux themselves. I may have made different product choices had the installer looked at the dimensions and layout of the room in advance .

We were kept well informed during the whole process from purchase to post installation. The installation was very professional and you would not of known anybody had been in the house other then a new window fitted.

Andrew was knowledgeable, professional and very helpful to me with the operation of my new window.

The subcontracted installers were excellent, but had to make several site visits because of faults in the factory supplied parts. Firstly, a large crack in the internal frame of one of the Velux windows. Secondly, a window roller blind mechanism was faulty and did not roll-up.

I contracted with Velux Ltd who supplied the product to do the work but it was their subcontractor that actually carried out the installation.
As the work related to a replacement Velux window in the roof I was unable to view the installation work in progress and only saw the finished installed product which looks satisfactory. The actual installation work was not seen, nor was I invited to view work in progress nor on completion. After departure of the installer subcontractor I noted that the trimming architraves to the roof opening were poorly replaced with some amateurish efforts at mastic pointing and some disturbed plasterboard fixings. These minor items will be rectified on redecoration by myself.

Really friendly team, on time, speedy installation and it looks great. Could not recommend them more.

Velux certified installer Daylight Doctors have left the tiles on my roof stuck down with mastic, there are a number of raised tiles. The aesthetics is very poor and i believe water will eventually seep through. Velux say this isn’t a problem. I see it as sub-standard workmanship.

The Velux-appointed contractor was superb, did a great job and we engaged them to do a chimney stack repair and a partial attic chimney breast replastering, both of which were extra to the Velux skylight installation and all of which were reasonably priced and executed to a very high standard.

Thoroughly excellent. The only minor observation is that it could’ve been good to put an extra dust sheet on the bed that was closest to the working area. Also, as I’d just had my stair carpet taken up, taking dirt up and down the stairs wasn’t a huge problem. However, if I’d had carpeting down (new or old), I’m not sure what would’ve been done to protect it.

Velux were very quick responding to my request for a quotation and providing a contact for for the contractor carrying out the installation. The Installation Contractor (AR Windows) was extremely efficient and helpful when a change of installation date was required due to unforeseen circumstances.

No problems with Velux however they rely on external contractors for the installation work. In our case we had some housekeeping issues with the installer and some minor external damage plus we had them back twice before achieving the correct spring tensioning and operation of the top hung windows.

Delighted with contractor – Ross Roberts who gave excellent advice at survey on right windows/shutter and a clear picture of sale and implications for work. Then returned and installed 3 windows for a refurbishment ensuring a high quality finish and quality outcome. Then fitted a 4th window for us on scaffold – after carpet and furniture back – leaving premises spotless.

These are fantastic workers, worked quietly and efficiently and basically just got on with the job. Very friendly and approachable cleaned area with hoover after fitting. Had to replace a faulty glass . I wasn�t confident I was closing window properly after they had left2nd time as it had been a very hot afternoon and window unit was left open. I rang them as they were on the return journey to their base and they must have turned around at next roundabout to check the unit again. It was not a fault they could find but fiddling with fixings and angle of unit , measuring and rechecking the seals

Product Suitability at a 6 is due to the fact that Velux dont make a replacement window the same size or very close to the one that was installed. Not sure why this would be? Just creates more work for the installer and more work for me, having to finish the gaps internally.

The above ratings refer to the installer. The service from the installer prior to him actually knocking on the door was very poor but once he finally arrived he made a very different impression. I would recommend him for the actual installation but with a caution about contact and timing. If we needed another window installed I would be happy for him to do the work because I would know to have low expectation of what would come before.Ratings for the Velux office would be different.

Velux product is good, people who installed the window were good, (but haven’t checked the roof yet as they had to bring the window up the outside of the building, so waiting to see if any damage was done with 4 of them climbing all over the roof for the kitchen and bathroom). After care service, waited over two weeks to hear from the “make good person” with no contact in between, so had no idea when they were coming to finish the job. So this part of the service was not good. Velux when hearing about this, did give a good will repayment.

Only 3 issues;Could never speak to the same person twice.Did not do a proper site visit to check out the installation but relied on my photographs. I advised them because of the location that I thought it would be a difficult install, but it resulted in a wasted visit for the fitters and delays, because they hadn�t got a tower scaffold that would fit.They sent me a satisfaction form for the aborted install and I had to make repeated requests by phone and E mail for a new one.On a positive note the installers were very good.

The operatives gave us an ETA and arrived as scheduled. They took care to protect the property and explained what they were going to replace. They confirmed the existing surrounding and supporting timbers were sound. After fitting, they checked and ran through how to operate the new Velux. Rosss Roberts were exceptional in replacing two loft Velus windows . They came at the times agreed: on the first occasion they took out the old windows and disposed of them then inserted the two new ones involving some cutting of existing tiles. All done in a couple of hours with seven people working quietly and efficiently..As the blinds we ordered from Velux had not arrived with the installer we agreed two of them would come back when received. They did so and were completed to our satisfaction within two hours and all mess (slight) removed.

The installer (Scott Bambridge) was excellent!! The same cannot be said about Velux Customer Service. Although they were all lovely, helpful people, I can’t help but feel they’re hugely understaffed. I rarely managed to contact the same person twice. I often received emails chasing me up, when it was I waiting on them to answer my email. Business practices at Velux Customer Services needs a full review and appropriate resources deployed or potential customers will go elsewhere.

Had two different contractors – one to fit the windows and one to rectify a fault identified by the first. No fault of the contractor but the windows were the wrong size and couldn’t be fitted until replacements had been manufactured, and then it took Velux two attempts to fix the new springs that were identified as necessary by the first contractor.

Velux’s service as a supplier has been good, but so too has that of the installer. It is hard to see how the replacement of the existing Velux window in the roof could have been improved. The installation carried out by Forest Park Roofing (FPR) has been excellent. In addition to the replacement of the window, FPR checked for roof damage in the surrounding area and made good any defects as part of the work. They were very efficient, tidy and punctual. The two man team were exceptional, as I’ve shown above. Their cheerfulness, politeness and professionalism were an example to all. I’m not qualified to judge the quality of their workmanship as most of the detail is now obscured by the roof tiles, but have no reason to expect that it’s not of the highest standard. At least it’s kept the rain out, after several months of leaks from the old installation!

As an engineer myself I am rather baffled by how the installation team completed the replacement without any evidence to the surrounding walls that any change had occurred. Amazing work!

The weather made for a somewhat delayed start but this was not the contractor’s fault and as far as I am able to judge he made a good job of installing the window. He was friendly and pleasant, clearly experienced in doing this kind of work and happy to answer any questions which I put. With the help of the young man who assisted him the area was carefully tidied before they left.The new window was a well matched replacement for the one that had failed. I am trying to get used to the white finish (which I chose) as compared to the more homely ‘pine’ which was there previously.

I felt that it would have been useful if they had come and looked at the job before quoting for the work as I was asked on the phone how high up the windows were, and asked to send photos.I was also charged for a mini scaffolding tower but this was not used on the day of installation. The installer informed me that he was sending two workmen to fit the window and only one had been quoted for. I did query this with Velux but as I had been informed there was nothing I could do retrospectively.

We only received a phone call the evening before installation was proposed, but once started Steve and Mike? worked very hard, very quietly and very efficiently from 9.30 straight through to 5pm+. They also ate a whole packet of chocolate biscuits – completely and utterly well deserved.

Contractor had a 90 minute journey to do this work. Varying weather conditions within those 90 minutes made for at least 2 wasted journeys. Assume there is a shortage of. Fitters locally.Undeterred by being unable to get frame to top of the house from inside, an ingenious pulley system was set up to haul frame up from outside – perhaps a site survey might have avoided this.

After finding that the installed motor for the replacement window was malfunctioning, the installers did their best to get a replacement part and install it as soon as they could. Unfortunately the scaffolding had to stay up longer than we envisaged-but luckily we were away. It would obviously have been better if the motor had worked first time or they had been equipped with a backup motor at installation. But they did well to complete it.

I was contacted by email and the contractors/fitters turned up on the day and time agreed (which is rare these days?) They removed the old units in a safe manner (which means them i can use the old one as cloches). Installed the new unit professionally with no damage to the surrounding plaster work. I was advised to paint as the chaulking will yellow over time. But other than that, my wife and myself were impressed with the professionalism and speed of the new installation. Since installation, we have had very heavy rain and there doesnt appear to have any problem.

The subcontractor who fitted the windows originally damaged two of three windows on installation and one was not installed straight, requiring one to be replaced and another repaired. Customer service and the technician sent to correct the faulty installation were excellent.

Per my separate correspondence – unfortunately a wood finish wardrobe door was scratched when the old windows were removed. Both Velux and AR Windows did a great job, really efficient, great product and the workmen were super friendly and tidy.

We’re very pleased with the quality of the work done and the professionalism of the contractors. The job was probably not as straight forward as might normally be expected owing to the condition of the old installation but they took the time to make the roofing sound so that the new Velux could be installed correctly. They did a great job on the final finishes to the surrounding plasterboard so the job was completed to a high quality. They were careful to protect the interior of the house whilst working and left the place clean and tidy after finishing up. Great job!

Our Replacement Scheme Contractor, Mark Philbeam was excellent in all respects, including communication, installation and clean up. There was surprisingly very little dust and dirt given that our windows were around 20 years old. Mark worked quickly but was methodical and thorough in all aspects of his work.Using approved contractors for Velux windows is essential and the Velux controlled Replacement Scheme is highly recommended as they buy in to all aspects of the work. and guarantee fair pricing and high standards.

The contractor was evidently not used to dealing with Norfolk clay pantiles and older irregular buildings and this has meant that although the window functions correctly and is watertight it does not sit well in relation to the tiles. Fitting the �skirt� on Velux flashing satisfactorily over Norfolk pantiles with their high profile is a challenge which in this case has not been met and perhaps Velux could improve the design

Some difficulty making initial contact and arranging a site visit for a quotation.Windows were replaced fine on the day but interior finishing was not completed fully, which only came to light on the day of installation, so I’ve had to find another contractor and pay extra for that.

We had many visits who all asked the same questions and recorded them on the same tablet , each time we are told that you would box in the gas pipe in the kitchen (new addition ) and that it was not their area that dealt with this but the promised (each time) they would contact the right person to arrange this, nothing happened.

Very pleased with complete service from placing order to final installation. The two lads who completed the installation did a first rate job.

Very polite, however we would have like to have had a better demonstration of the windows once installed as we had to contact Velux with a query about how to close the windows.

Polite, clean and tidy. Gir the job done in one day.

Generally good workmanship but floor covering protection limited and caulk around two windows done without dusting area or cleaning hands first so the finish was rough and difficult to correct. Fitter was told and finishing of the rest was fine.

Very good, although opening and closing can be difficult.

The fitters were friendly and efficient. I was kept informed of their progress through the fitting process which did not go as smoothly as expected due to this being an old property with ‘character’!! My only negative comments would be that they needed to put down better protective dust sheets as we were left with a heck of a lot of dust and debris to clear up. Also, I think when they vacuumed with their Henry they did not have any attachment on the metal hose end as the white gloss finished surfaces all had long swirling scratches on them which was disappointing to discover. Given that the job of fitting the new window turned into a messy nightmare requiring a ceiling replaster I did not raise this as an issue with the contractor.

We found the contractor to be extremely likeable, friendly and knowledgeable. The work was completed to a high standard and disruption was kept to a minimum. I would definitely recommend this installer to anyone considering replacement windows. I cannot fault him at all.
