Contractor was fine, but the windows are potentially a problem

We have issues with condensation on the outside pane of glass which at times means we have zero visibility through the windows. This was totally unexpected and has never been advised that at certain times we cannot see through our windows and hence the windows are not fit for purpose.

My experience in dealing with Essex Bi-Fold Doors from their excellent new showroom at Highlands Farm has been very pleasing throughout from ordering to installation. Their representatives: Lee, sales; Andrew, administration; Paul and Oscar, fitters and Adam, service, have all been most personable and helpful. They are a great team. My new Origin window is of excellent quality and enhances the look of my property.

Good communications all the way through the process, flexible with regards, the quote to satisfy our insurance claim for the replacement Bi-folding doors. Helpful with the quote validity to lock the price in before the increase on the product took place. installation was very good and any issues were quickly resolved.

I would have liked to see the contractor provide an option to have a complete solution, whereas now I am left to get another contractor in to finish off around the door frame as I now have bare bricks, packers and expandable foam showing.

Putting the above to one side, I thought the windows could/should have been cleaned much more than they were.

Overall though very happy so far.

Engineers were very good as the job was not straightforward, they kept their humour and completed the job to our satisfaction.
In 4 years we have had 3 companies and 5 sets of doors.

I would recommend the contractor on the basis that the door frame appears to be a quality product, however it took the contractor a long time to resolve items on the door that did not meet the agreed specification.
Positives:
- Good showroom where customer could see the door and ask questions about the door and its fitting.
- The door fits the space well.
- The contractor was substantially able to remedy the defects identified in the door and its glazing.
Negatives
- It took 6 months after the original fitting date before the glazing was supplied without defects.
- It was frustrating that the contractor did not initially accept that the original glazing supplied was defective.
