We returned to First Home Improvements having multiple windows and doors replaced previously. For this installment we were having a replacement porch interior door. Eve was our friendly and knowledgeable salesperson and she was very patient with all our questions to help us make the best decision for our needs. Eve really pulled out all the stops to get us the very best deal. As part of Eve’s initial visit she asked if we were happy with our previous installments and if we had any issues. We mentioned the back door was a bit drafty and an engineer was sent out to replace this free of charge.
On front door installation day our fitters Matt & Andy were on time, polite, efficient and tidied up well afterwards.

My experience was disappointing, mainly due to misleading communication and poor aftercare. I was given incorrect information about installation logistics, causing unnecessary disruption while working from home. The site was left messy, with debris and damage, and despite assurances, no one returned to address it.

The sales approach felt staged and overly aggressive, including offering payment for house photos that later proved conditional and linked to further sales attempts. Product performance is underwhelming, with minimal improvement in warmth or noise. For £14,000, this does not feel like premium quality or service.

The team(s) were great, installation was good and done in 2 parts (roof line and windows / doors). There were some small snagging issues, these were fixed post installation. All-in-all I’m very happy with the installation and the product(s) itself; and I would use them again in the future.

Window not checked for opening for easy clean.Had to be adjusted later by mechanic.

The windows are perfect for my needs and I am very satisfied with the product and the installation. However, I removed all curtains, save for the heavy lounge ones and in handling these, the curtain pull-rail was broken off by the installer. I did not realise till nightfall, as they had not mentioned it. The pull-rail cannot be replaced as Swish do not make the same product anymore. Customer services were quite abrupt, as they told me they have no contractual responsibility, although this could have been pointed out by the installers at the time and I would have removed them. Nevertheless, I would have hoped for a kinder response from Customer Services. Also, the next day I noticed black finger marks on several white doors and the stair-wall. I assume the work entailed getting black dust on their hands from the outgoing units,

We were really pleased with the two installers – they were tidy, cleaned up after themselves and helped with an existing issue we had with a front door hinge in addition to installing all our new windows etc. Really pleased with the work carried out.

They were very professional, efficient and kept us informed of progress at all times. I would highly recommend them.

It has been quite a journey, with several issues arising during both the installation and manufacturing stages. One window was delivered too short and had to be re-ordered. The door supplied was incorrect and required two re-orders—the first replacement did not include a low threshold, and the second did not have a letterbox. Altogether, this was understandably frustrating. However, I would like to commend the service manager for how they handled both the issues and my concerns. In the end, everything was put right, and while mistakes do happen, the manner in which they were resolved made a positive difference.

In general, I was happy with the installation.

Deducted a point for workmanship because although the windows themselves are great, a tile in bathroom was broken in the shower area and wasn’t mentioned to me. When I raised it, my installer covered most of it with a plastic strip to protect from water ingress but a hairline fracture remains visible. I have deducted points for tidiness because although the inside of house was left in a tidy state, which was great, a lot of glass shards were left outside, in my front lawn and on my drive.

The windows are great though and everyone from salespeople to surveyors to installers were friendly, helpful and polite. Overall, I would definitely recommend.

We are very pleased with the service I received from First Home Improvement. Advisor Asia showed me the best options and even helped reduce the price. I ordered a new front door, and 11 windows, and the whole experience was excellent from start to finish.

Ashley & John left no mess behind and cleaned everything after themselves no needed fix the the wall after as they made everything just perfect! They were extremely professional and experienced in fitting the doors and windows. I’m really satisfied with the final result. Noise reduction and just in time for winter as our old front door had wind whistling in the hall way, now nothing but warmth.

Typical double glazing salesman. Very pushy, knows it all, great delight in trashing our existing windows even though some only about six years old.
Made a big, repeated, point that that all of their product was made “in house” which I later found out was no correct. Also that the glass they used “could not be broken” This was later disproved by one of the fitters breaking a wrongly supplied unit.
A week or so of them trying to sort the sizing and design. One particular window “we cant make that, have something else” then it was changed again and again, before coming back to what I wanted in the first place. It was to be made by another contractor.
Some six weeks later installation day! More problems. The outsourced window “had failed inspection and would have to be remade’ It would take a week or so. One window was fitted then they started on the second – more problems “sorry, the glass is the wrong size, we will have to make another unit About a week, meanwhile we have boarded up the hole. Sorry, we cant fit your new front door, we forgot the door furniture.
A week or so later they returned. Missing glass fitted, missing window fitted, door fitted – minus some trims.
A couple of days later and filler around one window was still very soft. They eventually returned and replaced the filler and fitted the missing door trims.
About three weeks after it was first erected tha scaffolding was removed.
All in all, not a very pleasant experience. No I will not recommend this company

The installation went well apart from the fact the guys arrived around three hours early. They had to wait while we moved furniture. The only thing that was not good was a follow up visit. The guy was very nice but was pressure rising me into having more windows fitted. If my son had not been upstairs and over heard what was going on. he works in finance and understood what was happening, I would have been persuaded to have something I could not afford .

From the initial meeting with Bali, the surveyor Paul, Louise who coordinated the installation dates to the two guys Jaz and Jordan who were fab and worked meticulously to fit my windows and door, I couldn’t have been more pleased with how everything flowed. It’s a pity I won’t be needing new windows anytime soon but should the need ever arise again, I wouldn’t hesitate to use First Home Improvements in a flash. I’ve received many comments on how lovely my new windows and door look and they’ve certainly added value to my house.

The Gentleman who carried out initial quotation was polite, courteous, knowledgable and at no time made us feel pressures.

The Surveyor who visited to confirm the measurements and specification was courteous, professional and incredibly thorough, triple checking our requirements and specification.

The product is great. Had an overall bad experience with the company due to poor paperwork which meant additional visits were required. 
Lads doing the work are great and had no issues. 

Accidents happen which caused an additional visit on top of a revisit which in total was around 6 weeks to complete 3 windows. 

I am debating weather to use them again for a patio door on the back or find another company due to the experience due to the product being good.

The fitters were excellent, on time ,tidied up well and did a good job, and we are well happy with the windows installed. The problems we had were the admin side of things, a lack of communication after the the first delay’s and one window on the porch was surplied closed when it should have been opening. Also the scaffolders [contractors] put up the scaffold so the bottom widows and porch could not be done which caused further delay. It then took about 6 weeks for the replacement wrong window to arrive and be fitted. Bit of a poor show from the office side of things, especially a lack of communication,

The end product, now installed looks very good. It has been well installed, well designed has been carefully finished, both inside and out. It is admired.

I have a reservation about the workmanship which is associated with the original very lengthy sales talk which persuaded me to go ahead with the work.
The sales patter gave me the impression that every aspect of the production of the windows and the doors was “in house” compared with most other companies offering a similar service who would sub contract or buy in their products.
I would praise the two employees who came to fit the glazed door, who arrived on time, were quick and tidy and all went well until it came to fitting the glass. This had not been cut to the correct size with the result that there was a delay of just over a week before the work was completed. In the meantime a temporary security insert was provided which resulted in our room being much darker . The work has since been completed to my satisfaction, but more care should be taken with the sales promotion.

On time. Work was done although we felt it was a little rushed at the end as the workers needed a bit more time to finish off.Last window left with some visible plaster cracks and paint work not done around the window although rendering was completed. Overall good job and good standard of design.

Your after service team need retraining on how to except NO I don’t need anything else. Within one day I’ve had 3 people phone I have told each one I’ve filled questionnaire to say no more contact. They spoil the good workmanship that everyone has given.

First class service from start to finish. I would highly recommend this company. They were extremely respectful, not just to myself but also my property. I expected to have a massive cleanup after they finished, but that was not the case at all, I literally had to do nothing apart from admiring their exceptional work.

My six main windows and two porch windows and door was put in two separate orders and given two separate fitting days about six weeks apart. So it would have been nice to have them all fitted same day and or next day.

The installation team and products are excellent. First Home Improvements should allocate more time or resources for their installation teams to allow them to deliver a higher quality installation. Our installation team worked flat out for two long days to complete the installation (we were told 1.5 days by First Home Improvements) which left the installation team with limited time to clean up after their early evening finish.

All members of the team that I dealt with either directly or indirectly were very professional and a pleasure to interact with.

I found First Improvements to be reliable, accomodating – I had an unexpected stay in hospital for 2 weeks, warm and approachable. We were able to be part of a promotion which gave us a cost that made the difference between not having the windows and being able to go ahead.

I love the 2nd lock feature which keeps the windows locked AND open a crack. The windows all have ventilation above them which is another appreciated feature.

I think the windows are fine but not perfect. The processes took longer than I was promised and workmen left a mess. They also noted that a fall restraint would be set up which wasn’t.

Experienced issues with two of our leaded light panes of glass, which took a while to resolve. We were pleased with the outcome.

Out of 2 windows, one was easier to fit and perfect job. The other one was more complicated and final job had a few issues. They did come back second time, but there wasn’t much they could fix about the already done plaster.

Grossly underestimated the time of the sales call with no intention of speeding up when requested, very very close to losing the sale. i.e. “please set aside 60-90 minutes” but actually took 4.5 hours

The person who came to give me a quote, was sent to the wrong address, so the appointment had to be rescheduled for another day. The surveyor ordered the wrong door (composite not upvc). A new door had to be ordered and then fitted. Both the window and door have already dropped (less than 2 weeks after fitting) and I am still waiting for someone to come and fix them. Staff were pleasant. A very frustrating experience and I would never recommend this company.

I found the workmen excellent, the product looks great too. One aspect of the whole job caused me problems, the actual care and accuracy of organisation behind the scenes. The men were supplied with left handed handles ( 90% of the population are right-handed ) When they returned to correct this mistake, they brought 3 handles instead of 4, so they had to return again, wasting time .

After successful installation, the company tried to use a sales tactic to predispose the customer to buy further products. This was irksome.

All aspects of the process was very professional, hence the high mark. Only minor fault was with some of the ordering and delivery processes but, to date, the company has responded well to these issues.

Came into my home worked very hard cleaned up went through the opening and locking doors and windows, also put my blinds back up. Very pleased with the quality of the windows and doors.

The salesperson and sales team were great, they could have explained and soon more window designs, we were only shown a limited type of window openings available, we only found out when they had two reorder two windows because the had got the sizes incorrect for them the surveyor how came offered us a better design which we would have chosen for the whole house if we had been told beforehand that these were available. The company had to come out three times to complete the installation and still not completely finished, most disappointed, wrong item sent with fitters our front door was complete wrong the warehouse had sent the wrong door which was too big, but they had to fit it and comeback to replace it with the correct one. 
My payment was taken from the Finance company even though I had informed the sales manager I would settle in full on completion, it was lucky I had phoned the Finance company to find out why they had paid them as I had not signed any contract for financing the purchase, and to avoid the interest charges I paid off the Fianance company,

I would like to say that I am pleased with the quality of the work when I had 4 windows replaced on my property and roof sealed above the bay at roof level.

All windows and doors changed on a 3 bedroom house. This was completed in 2 days. 2 people worked non-stop. They were trying to keep the place tidy as much as possible. Everything has been done to a high standard with the exception of some window frames being scratched (which probably happened during transport). I was disappointed to find out that the Window Restrictor Hooks did not fit these windows even though the surveyor reassured us that we will be fine to install the generic ones. I have a child so this is an issue as it is a 2 storey house. I am yet to hear back about an resolution for this. I also found the lack of an itemised receipt on completion of the job unprofessional. I had to request this separately which I found odd. In fairness when I raised this had a member of staff send this over. Time will tell how customer service will deal with the warranty. The windows are great quality . They insulate well and block out noise very well. There is room for improvement to make the sale process more transparent.

We had a back door and front door fitted. The front door we are reasonably happy with, but the first fitter left bricks loose and didn’t appear to have much care in his work. The back door was measured wrong. When the fitter came to install, he took the old door out even though he was convinced the new one wouldn’t fit, which it didn’t! He then had to force the new door into the space (leaving it un-useable) so that we didn’t have a hole in the back of our house! We then had to wait another 2 weeks before a door that would fit, could be installed. Some money was taken off the final bill, but I would have much rather paid full price for what we had actually signed up for in the first place, rather than something we didn’t actually choose. Overall not impressed, wouldn’t use again as have lost confidence in the surveyors they use and would not be comfortable recommending.

We confirmed an installation date with the company who then did not show and had booked in the wrong date on their system, we were required to wait a further month for a new installation date. There was lumps of concrete / bricks left inside and outside. Finger marks left on the walls and there are gaps left under the windows which have not been left in a progressional state.

I was happy with the completed work, though the fitters Nick and Rob, initially finished the windows with plastic trim which I wasn’t expecting as I had been advised that everything would be like for like, and my windows were rendered. I explained this to Nick, and he contacted the office. First then arranged for a building team to come out and sort.

Great communication from Mark straight away, sent a text with their eta, and followed up with another when they were delayed in traffic. 
Mark and his sons did a very tidy job, and the windows looked so much better when rendered properly.

John followed up to check that I was happy, and Rob returned to finish off the last few jobs by the end of July as I had a function at my house early August. 
Overall very pleased with the results and appreciate that they made sure everything was finished in time for my event.

The windows themselves are fine, however the fitters caused some damage to internal paintwork and there are gaps that must be rectified at the top of the frames outside.

Had to call First back after a few days as patio doors wouldn’t shut. Fortunately they came that day so was able to lock them.

Professional job

Some components that were supplied had to be changed because they were not compatible with the latest air source heat pump that was installed. This caused a short delay. The location of the main temperature control resulted in some of our rooms being cold. The problem was solved by installing a separate thermostat in the lounge. I feel that this problem should have been anticipated by the installers.

Terrible company. Wasted a lot of my time and had multiple visits. Spoke with 7 or 8 different staff and nobody ever knew what was going on.

My recommendation is yes and no. Positive, their after-fitting customer service is exceptional. Everyone I’ve contacted has been absolutely amazing, dealing with my ‘after fitting’ issues without quibble. Based on this outstanding support, Yes, I recommend them. However, the fitting quality was poor. The fitters were polite and quick, finishing in two days instead of two and a half. I suspect this rush created the need for two windows to be re-fitted (frames had bulges), some plaster damage, and the doors dropped within two days. No, I cannot recommend them for installation. The job should have been perfect. I should not be having to call and book appointments to fix flaws. Their excellent service is necessary only because their fitting failed.

The product is really good, the fitters did a brilliant job considering the challenges they faced with wonky openings etc and the surveyor was reassuring.  Personally, I do not like their sales tactics and I have fed that back.  Potential customers just want to know about the product, be given a price or prices depending on whether they have to make compromises in what they choose.  If I used this company again (and I have another property that needs new windows), I would specify this and if the sales person went on I would ask him or her to leave.

I wouldn’t recommend. The property was left in an awful state following installation – over thirty screws were left on the driveway, alongside pieces of plastic and large wooden splinters. No attempt was made to tidy, and we had to pay for a neighbours tyre damage as the result of this. The weather bar on the front door was damaged by the installer and despite two subsequent home visits, it is still in an awful state, and now needs replacing by us. I would encourage others to shop elsewhere.

The main issue with the 2 windows was that they were installed wrong. The openings were opposite to what they should have been . Being bedrooms they had to be cleared out for access which was difficult in itself. Then when a date was fixed to remedy them it was cancelled on the day ,after being cleared out again . It was fixed on the third occasion but the delays had knock on effects getting plastering and decorating done . I have had no offer of recompense for all the disruption and stress .

Installer was very slapdash and somewhat careless about my property. He complained about having to turn down his work radio – presumably not understanding that not everyone including my neighbours wants to listen to his music choices. He also took the wooden blinds down from two windows and complained about having to put them both up again. They had to take the window frames over my garage roof as he said they wouldn’t go up the stairs. Although he said he had hoovered after finishing I am still finding lots of white polystyrene balls along the skirting boards. If I had more windows/French doors installed I would not want this particular contractor to return.

The only reason I would not recommend to anyone , is because the work has not yet been completed, to a good standard as numerous things have had to be replaced from the initial fitting,  due to poor fitting and substandard quality

First Home Improvements in Norwich were excellent. Their installation team staff were punctual, friendly and good at their job. HOWEVER the supplier of the frames and doors got our order hopelessly wrong creating several delays. The factory’s quality control was shocking. We had door handles that didn’t match, 4 windows with latches in the wrong positions, missing frames completely, scratches on one pane. All were replaced, thus causing a delay.

Very pleased with the work that has been done and would recommend them.
I have only marked down the customer service slightly as I had a misleading phone call about the after install inspection and photos (which has not been done) and no one came back to me when I requested a rough idea on the cost of a garage door

The work was done very skilfully and the whole process felt very professional and well-monitored.

The 2 original window fitters were fantastic. It was other members that let it all down. Scoffolders damaging the roof. The plasterer did a poor effort at patching in to existing, no skrim tape used nor was it feathered into existing plaster, it cracked all the way around after it dried. The fitters that came back to do the kitchen window could have been tidier, put tools over some of our furniture. There also seemed a genuine lack of communication from within the business.

Punctual, kept a tidy work site. Friendly and efficient workers. Very happy with the installation and no debris left behind.

Unfortunately the lock that came with the door is too stiff for a lot of people to open. Despite the senior engineer confirming the door is within tolerance range the lock remains so stiff after nearly 2 months of use that a number of the family can’t use it.

The initial installation went very well. Polite workmen and great looking windows. It didnt rain for a while but when it did the windows leaked. We took pictures and a video to illustrate this when we called to report this. It took several days and visits from different people before it was temporarily resolved. It turns out that the supplier had not put in drainage holes, so thewindows had to be re-ordered and fitted.

Tha windows look great. We recommend that windows are checked before installation and thatan appropriate team comes out first time to sort out leaking windows.

This was our second project with First Home Improvements and they were as professional, friendly and skilled as before. Highly recommended.
