All Traders listed on Certified Competent are submitted by UKAS accredited certification bodies which operate a number of different certification schemes under Government license or under their own scheme rules. Their certification provides confidence to consumers, Government and industry.

Registered to self-certify work instead of using Local Authority Building Control. They demonstrate management systems, consumer protection, and trained site operatives to meet the MHCLG Conditions of Authorisation – applies to replacement double glazing & roofing projects.
Installers and contractors can self-certify that their work meets high workmanship standards and they have followed appropriate codes of practice and consumer protection – this covers most home improvement work types and they are also approved by TrustMark.
PAS 2030 is a standard that is focussed on energy efficiency. This certification aims to ensure that any building repairs or upgrades, such as insulation or new windows and doors, are energy efficient.
The Thermal Rating Register or Window Energy Ratings Scheme rates the energy efficiency of windows – it uses a traffic-light style A-G ratings guide – similar to those you find on home appliances such as fridge freezers.
Skills cards or MTC cards are evidence of a site operative’s ongoing competence, showing that they have the required skills, knowledge and behaviours to work in line with the latest industry practice and current Building Regulations
All traders listed on certified competent sign up to a Code of Conduct (see below) via membership of a suitable trade association such as the Certass Trade Association or the NAPIT Trade Association.
