5 Tips for Choosing the Right Window Installer in Your Area

After deciding on the style of windows you want to add to your home, it can be a daunting task trying to find the right person to install them for you. It’s not as simple as just searching for one on Google and picking the first result, as there are many things to consider, such as whether to choose a larger company or a smaller, local installer.

With a bit of research, it’s easier to go through the minefield and choose the right installer for you.

What makes a local window installer a great choice?

Large window companies can provide many benefits such as their wide range of product choices, however there are also many benefits of choosing someone local.

Local installers often take pride in offering quality workmanship, and as they rely so heavily on word of mouth to get business, one bad job could have a substantial negative effect on their trade. They can also be less expensive, as they’re able to provide competitive prices while also offering a wide range of styles and colours.

Whether you choose a local installer or a national company there are a few things to consider when choosing the right person for you, so we’ve given you five tips for choosing the right window installer.

1. Look out for recommendations

The most traditional way of finding a suitable tradesperson has always been to ask friends and family, and despite the availability of online reviews, this still remains one of the most effective ways. Friends and family are more likely to be honest about how it went and how their customer service was, so if they’re not satisfied, it’s not a good sign and you should probably look elsewhere.

2. See examples of their work

Looking at an installer’s previous work is a good way of seeing real life examples of what they can do. There’s no harm in asking to see jobs they have recently completed, and this will give you a good opportunity to see the standard of their work.

3. Check out their reviews

Checking reviews is a great way of seeing how good an installer’s work is. The accuracy of these reviews can often be questioned though, as they may be from friends or family and not completely honest.

4. Visit their social media pages

More and more companies are using social media to showcase their work, and there’s no reason why you can’t use this to check up on potential installers.

They will usually post images of their completed work so you can get a good idea of the service they provide, as well as their product range on various different house styles.

5. Most importantly, are they certified?

If you want to choose an installer who is reliable and trusted, then make sure you choose one who is certified. This makes sure they have the required skillset to complete the job to the highest standards and won’t cut corners.

You could rely on online reviews or recommendations from friends, but this doesn’t give the same level of assurance as the Certass Certification Scheme, as their work is regularly assessed to make sure they are producing suitable installations for customers.

The Certification Scheme also ensures that all installations meet building regulations, such as ventilation, insulation, and safety.
